The Russian attacks in the Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv and Jherson left five people dead and at least 17 wounded on Friday, June 6 to Saturday, June 7, local authorities announced. According to the governor of the Kherson region, Oleksandr Prokudin, two people died in an attack, while three others died in Cakiv, on unprecedented magnitude strikes in this second city in Ukraine.
The city underwent “the most powerful attack since the beginning of the war” in February 2022, Mayor Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, informing at least 40 explosions “announced in a brief period of time.
“The enemy simultaneously attacks missiles, Shahed drones and guided air pumps,” said the elected official, according to which at least 48 Shahed, two missiles and four guided bombs were used.
Mass attacks between Thursday and Friday
A Russian -speaking majority of more than 1.4 million inhabitants before the war, Jharkiv is less than 50 kilometers from the Russian border, in the northeast of Ukraine, and is regularly subject to night attacks, such as most other cities in the country.
On Thursday, 18 people, including four children, had been injured in Russian strikes in Jharkiv. Russia had led at night from Thursday to Friday to the country’s scale, one of its most massive attacks since the beginning of the war, with 407 drones and 45 missiles, according to the Ukrainian army.

The results of this attack increased at least five dead on Saturday with the discovery of the body of a young woman in debris in Loutsk, near the Polish border. On the Russian side, an attack on the Ukrainian drones led during the night to the momentary closure of Moscow’s main airport, Cheremetievo, according to air authorities.
