A delegation of the Palestinian Islamist movement has received a new proposal of Alto El Fuego in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian official near the archive in Cairo.
“The proposal is a framework agreement to launch negotiations on a high permanent fire. Hamas will hold internal consultations within its administration” and with the leaders of other allied groups on the new proposal, this source told AFP.
This text takes the main lines of a previous American proposal that provides a 60 -day truce and the release, in two stages, of the Israeli hostages eliminated on October 7, 2023 during the unprecedented attack in Hamas in Israel, which caused the war in Gaza.
Demonstrations in Tel Aviv
This proposal occurs the day after the events of magnitude organized in Tel Aviv. On Sunday, several thousand Israelis gathered in the streets of the capital to demand the liberation of hostages that still have Hamas and the end of the war in Gaza.
The demonstrations were organized regularly during the 22 months of war launched in the Gaza Strip for Hamas unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. But this Sunday’s rally seems to be one of the most massive to date.
The mobilization was organized after the decision of the Government of Benjamin Netanyahu, just over a week ago, to launch a new offensive against Hamas in the Palestinian territory, and to seize the city of Gaza and the neighboring camps.
This plan to take control of the most populated areas in Gaza, while humanitarian and UN agencies warn against imminent famine in the territory, has aroused international reprobation. In Israel, the feeling of urgency has increased even more for those who demand the end of the war in exchange for a negotiated agreement to free all hostages.
For Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the demonstrations organized in Tel Aviv this Sunday strengthen the position of Hamas. “Those who call today to end the war without a defeat of Hamas not only reinforce the position of Hamas and the distance from the liberation of our hostages, but also guarantee that the horrors of October 7 will happen again and again, and that we will have to fight in an endless war,” said Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday during the weekly meeting of the government.
