French leaders Emmanuel Macron, German Friedrich Merz and the Polish Donald Tusk will go to Chisinau on Wednesday, August 27 to obtain support for support to Moldova, who accuses Russia of destabilization attempts, the French presidency announced on Friday.
By invitation of President Proeuropeo Maia Sandu, the three leaders will go to Chisinau on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of independence to “reaffirm their full support for security, sovereignty and the European way of Moldova.”
The head of the State, who won in November 2024 during the presidential elections and defended Ukraine, accused Russia at the end of July to carry out an interference operation “interference and coordinated” unprecedented to change the proeuropea rust in its camp during the legislative elections of September.
“Russian attempts of increasingly uninhibited destabilization”
Moscow wants to “control” this border country of the European Union (EU) and Ukraine “in autumn” thanks to the mechanisms for the purchase of voting and financing with “cryptocurrencies”, “100 million euros” planned for this purpose, they had denounced, also pointed out the responsibilities of the Telegram social network.
Maia Sandu accused the two main opposition forces of taking advantage of this plan to deprive him of a majority in Parliament that would bring together the former Republic of Soviet integration in the EU. Maia Sandu’s action and solidarity party is widely given at the top of the voting intentions (39%) by the last survey dating from mid -July.
During a meeting at the Elysée with Maia Sandu on March 10, Emmanuel Macron had already denounced “more and more disinhibited Russian attempts at destabilization” against Moldova and his “democratic institutions.” I wanted to “further strengthen our cooperation to increase Moldova’s resilience against foreign interference.”
Western ones consider that Moldova is particularly vulnerable since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. It includes internationally recognized borders, the Prorussian secessionist region.
