Gaza flotilla: 28 French nationals arrested in Israel will be expelled to Greece on Monday

In detainees in Ktziot prison, these French citizens who were in the Gaza AID flotilla intercepted this week by Israel, will be expelled to Greece, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France.

A group of 28 French nationals, who were aboard the Gaza AID flotilla intercepted this week by Israel, will be expelled on Monday, October 6, announced on Sunday the French Foreign Ministry.

“After a first consular visit on Friday (…), a second consular visit was made this Sunday in Ktziot prison. Our teams could meet all our compatriots, which are fine,” added Ministry spokesman, Pascal Confavreux.

“They continue individual follow -up and remain in close contact with their families to inform about the situation and messages transmitted by their loved ones,” he adds.

“It would be that France finally acts”

Of the 28 mentioned by Quai d’Orsay, “some are registered under other nationalities (American, Swedish, Tunisian or Turk). The precise passenger list will be transmitted tomorrow morning,” according to the spokesman.

On Sunday, October 5, the La France Insoumise (LFI, Radical Left) party was worried about not being news of four of its elected officials that were part of the flotilla, the deputies François Piquemal and Marie Mesmeur, the Eurodiputa Rima Hassan and Emma Fourreau.

“It would be that France finally acts,” said rebel Mep Manon Aubry in Franceinfo Radio. For French diplomacy, “priority remains the return to France of our nationals as soon as possible,” said his spokesman.

In total, 30 French were arrested by the “Global Sumud” international flotilla, which had about 45 ships and had hundreds of activists who wish to provide humanitarian aid on board.
