A friend of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was killed in Rome on Sunday by a man who shot dead two other women and wounded four other people, the head of government and the carabinieri announced.
The 57-year-old murderer fired on Sunday morning against the participants in a union meeting in a northern district of the capital after stealing the weapon, a Glock pistol, from a shooting range.
Claudio Campi had conflictive relations with the administrators, whom he accused of wanting to evict him from his accommodation, according to a text published in early November on his blog.
“I hope that justice takes its course quickly”
Three women succumbed to their injuries, including Nicoletta Golisano, 50, mother of a 10-year-old boy, present at the meeting in her capacity as an accountant. Giorgia Meloni revealed on Sunday night that they are friends.
“Nicoletta était une maman protectorce, une amie sincere et discrète, une femme forte et fragile à la fois”, written by the leader of the extreme right on her Facebook page, in publishing a photo of her and the victim lords a party.
The murderer “has been arrested and I hope that justice will take its course quickly.” But “the word ‘justice’ can never fit in this case. Because it is not fair to die like this,” added Giorgia Meloni.
