Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Friday that Kyiv forces had retaken 30 locations from Russian troops in the northeast of the country, where Moscow has sent reinforcements to deal with this offensive.
“Currently, the Ukrainian armed forces have liberated and taken control of more than 30 towns in the Kharkiv region” bordering Russia, he said in a video posted on social media.
“We carry the Ukrainian flag and protection to our citizens everywhere,” added the head of state.
Evacuated residents
In this context, the Russian media reported on the deployment of reinforcements in the Kharkiv region, broadcasting videos showing armored vehicles, howitzers and trucks circulating in large numbers on non-geolocated roads. Moscow did not comment on this deployment, limiting itself to listing, as it does every day, the heavy losses that the Russian army would have inflicted on the Ukrainians.
As a sign of the Ukrainian advance, the pro-Russian authorities of the occupied territories of the region announced on Friday that they would evacuate the inhabitants to other areas under Moscow control or to Russia.
