An Australian low-cost airline Jetstar plane had to make an emergency landing in Japan on Saturday after a bomb threat. According to the NHK public television channel, the plane had left Narita airport, bound for Fukuoka, in the south of the country.
At around 6:20 am, the Narita airport received a call from a man in Germany who claimed to have planted a bomb on the plane. The flight was immediately diverted to Chūbu International Airport in Tokoname, Honshū Island.
No explosives were found on board
The 136 passengers and 6 crew members were evacuated by the emergency slides. Five people were slightly injured during the evacuation.
According to police sources, cited by NHK, the man claimed to have placed a 100-kilogram bomb in the plane’s hold, and threatened to detonate it if he did not contact a “manager.” No explosive devices were found on board.
Traffic at Chūbu airport was interrupted for four hours, the time of the controls.
