Imbroglio around the Berlin tanks. During a speech on Tuesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned that deliveries to Kyiv of German-made Leopard tanks would not bode “nothing good.” A thinly veiled threat that comes at a time when pressure is mounting on Berlin to authorize the shipment of these armored vehicles to Ukraine.
“Such renditions would not bring anything good to the” Russian-German relationship, he said, judging that “it would leave an indelible mark.”

“Germany has already received our request to accept the transfer of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine,” Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Twitter, also calling on Berlin to join “the coalition of tank-supporting countries’ Ukraine with Leopard 2′”.
This Tuesday again, Berlin seemed to drop even more ballast despite the hesitations of Olaf Scholz. New German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has said Ukraine-allied countries with Leopard heavy tanks can start training Ukrainian troops in their use.
On Sunday, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Berlin “will not oppose” the delivery of Leopard 2 tanks from Poland to Ukraine.
