A headache that ends up in court. A Singaporean is suing the country’s Supreme Court for more than S$3 million (about €2.1 million) in damages from a woman who said she only sees him as a friend and not a lover.
A situation that would have caused him “painful trauma” and tarnished his “stellar reputation”, according to court documents broadcast by the tight times. The complaint filed by a certain Kawshigan, which will be examined next week, accuses Ms. Nora Tan of having had an impact on her professional situation that would have caused her to lose money.
Mr. Kawshigan and Ms. Nora Tan first met in 2016. It wasn’t until 2020 that the two “misaligned” in their intentions. “While she only saw him as a friend, he saw her as her closest friend of hers,” the court documents say.
A first complaint dismissed
He then asked that their interactions be reduced and asked him to be more “autonomous in his life”, according to the sentence, which upset Kawshigan, who considered that this would be “a step backwards in [leur] after receiving legal threats, she agreed at the time to pursue psychotherapy sessions with him on the advice of her lawyer.
After two years and several sessions without finding a solution, Ms. Nora Tan decides to cut off all contact with Mr. Kawshigan and file a harassment complaint.
Kawshigan then demanded S$22,000, claiming that Nora Tan had breached an agreement to improve their relationship. A complaint dismissed for being “manifestly unfounded”. As for the second complaint filed for “painful trauma”, a preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 9 before the Supreme Court of Singapore.
