At least eight luxury vibrators, some plated with 24-carat gold, were stolen from Spanish sex toy wholesaler Dreamlove for haul worth tens of thousands of euros, the company said on Friday.
The three thugs, who seized high-end items, including a gold version whose price starts at 15,000 euros – the cost increases with size and functionality – seemed to know exactly what they were looking for, Idiared Aponte explained to AFP, commercial director. of the brand based in Seville, in the south of the country.
The thieves, who broke into the premises shortly before midnight on Wednesday, “searched until they reached the secure area where the golden dildos and a large sum of cash were located,” he told the AFP newspaper.
Thus, eight sex toys were stolen, six gold-plated and two stainless steel, at a cost “between 3,500 and 7,000 euros.”
Loot hard to resell
“As these are luxury sex toys and rare on the market, I don’t think it’s very easy for thieves to resell them,” said Idiared Aponte.
The criminals also took 25,000 euros in cash that were hidden in a safe inside the warehouse, located in an industrial estate 10 kilometers east of Seville.
In the surveillance images consulted by AFP, three hooded people dressed in black are seen forcing their way into the building with a hammer and an ax, after having cut off the lighting.
On its website, Dreamlove, founded in 2007, describes itself as a “pleasure powerhouse” with more than 20,000 items in stock, ranging from sex toys to lingerie.
