The Canadian actor George Ross Robertson, known for participating in six films of the “Police Academy” franchise, died this Sunday at the age of 89, in a hospital in Toronto (Canada), his family announced this Saturday.
The causes of death were not disclosed. With a career spanning 60 years, Robertson rose to fame playing Police Chief and later Commissioner Henry Hurst in the comedy franchise films.
The actor appeared as Hurst in 1984 in Hugh Wilson’s first “Police Academy” film, and remained with the franchise until “Police Academy 6: City Under Siege” (1989).
Robertson also starred in three Best Picture Oscar nominations: “Airport” (1970), “Norma Rae” (1979) and “JFK” (1991).
George Ross Robertson was born on April 20, 1933 in Brampton, Ontario.
