They attack the house of Paco Rabanne after the death of the Spanish designer

Paco Rabanne’s house was assaulted this Sunday, two days after the death of the Spanish designer, which occurred last Friday, the French authorities confirmed to the AFP news agency.

“The robbery occurred at dawn on Sunday in Ploudalmézeau [uma cidade costeira no oeste da França]. The damage was minor and there were no arrests,” they said.

“The thieves thought there were a lot of valuables inside. Whether it’s Paco Rabanne or someone else, it’s very shocking to rob someone who has just died,” said Marguerite Lamour, mayor of Ploudalmézeau, a town of about 6,000.

Spanish fashion designer Paco Rabanne has died at the age of 88 at his home in Portsall, Brittany, France.

“It is with deep sadness that Puig announces the death of Paco Rabanne,” according to a statement, which confirms the information provided by the regional newspaper Télégramme.

Born on February 18, 1934 in the Spanish city of Pasajes, in the Basque Country, Francisco Rabaneda y Cuervo, his real name, ended up making a career as a seamstress and perfumer, mainly in France.

At the end of the 1960s, the collaboration between the ‘designer’ and the fashion and beauty company Puig began, which he finally acquired in 1986.

Together with the members of the second generation of this family business, “a loyal alliance was sealed with a designer capable of transmitting passion and youthful rebellion in successful fragrances,” they say in the statement.

“Paco Rabanne has made transgression magnetic”, affirms José Manuel Albesa, president of Puig’s Beauty and Fashion division, which leaves the doubt: “Who else could induce elegant Parisians to clamor for plastic and metal dresses? Who but Paco Rabanne? Could you imagine a fragrance called Calandre (meaning ‘car grille’) and make it an icon of modern femininity?”

José Manuel Albesa also stressed that “this radical and rebellious spirit [o] distinguishes: there is only one Rabanne”.

The official also recalled the “enormous influence on contemporary fashion, a spirit that endures in the ‘maison’ that bears his name.”

“Rabanne will continue to be a major source of inspiration for the company’s fashion and fragrance teams,” says CEO Marc Puig.
