Teenager with Nazi symbols attacks school in Brazil with homemade bombs

A young man wearing a swastika bracelet was detained Monday by police in a municipality in the Brazilian state of São Paulo after throwing homemade Molotov cocktails at a school, authorities said.

The man accused of the attacks, whose identity and age were not released, is a former student at the school. The attack, which occurred in Monte Mor, a small municipality about 120 kilometers from the city of São Paulo, did not leave any injuries or deaths, according to the Civil Police report.

The events occurred in the morning at the Professor Antonio Sproesser State School. According to the municipal security secretary, Anderson Palmieri, the young man accused of the attacks threw two homemade bombs at the school’s façade.

After the attacks, all the students, teachers and school staff were sent home.

“Everyone is safe and sound at home. The school is closed until the forensics are finished,” said Anderson Palmieri.

A video shared on social media by neighbors of the school showed the young man walking towards a black vehicle.

The young man, who had a small ax in his hand, was dressed in black and wore a black cap, as well as a swastika armband on his right arm.
