The gunman who killed three children and three adults at a Nashville school on Monday legally purchased seven firearms in recent years and hid the guns from her parents before the attack, local police revealed Tuesday.
Christian school The Covenant School recorded the latest school shooting in the United States, killing three 9-year-old students, as well as the primary school principal, an assistant and a substitute teacher.
Local police also revealed that the suspect, 28-year-old Audrey Hale, a former student at the school who was eventually killed at the scene by police, did not target any specific victims.
According to the same source, Hale was being treated by a doctor for an undisclosed emotional disorder.
Police have released videos of the shooting, including edited surveillance footage showing the gunman’s car driving towards the school from various angles, including one showing children playing on a swing in the background.
Then an internal image shows the glass doors of the school being fired upon and the gunman emerging through one of the smashed doors.
More footage from inside the school shows the gunman walking down a school hallway with a long-barreled pistol and entering a room called the “church office”, then returning.
In the latter part of the footage, the gunman can be seen walking down another long hallway, pistol in hand, never seen interacting with anyone in the video, which has no sound.
According to authorities, no police were present or assigned to the school at the time of the shooting, as it is a church-run school.
