A general deputy director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IEA) was expected on Monday in Tehran, Irani Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Sunday.
This visit will be the first of a senior OIEA official since Iran suspended their cooperation with the agency last month, after the twelve -day war with Israel.
“Our discussions with the agency will focus on a new cooperation framework (…) provided that we have not reached an agreement on this new executive, cooperation will not be able to begin,” Araghchi told The Press.
Without inspection of planned nuclear sites
He added that no inspection or visit to nuclear sites was planned.
In mid -June, Israel launched an unprecedented attack aimed at Iranian nuclear and military sites, but which has also affected residential areas.
Last month, they will officially suspend their cooperation with the OIEA, invoking the agency’s inability to condemn Israelis and American attacks their nuclear sites.
The Israeli attack ended nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States that began in April.
These conversations have been the highest contact between Tehran and Washington since the United States abandoned the international agreement on Iran’s nuclear activities.
Negotiations in Progreso with Washington
Since the twelve -day war, Iran has required guarantees against any military action before resuming negotiations with Washington.
Mr. Araghchi recently declared that Iran had “received messages” from the US administration about the resumption of negotiations, but that “nothing has been finished” on this issue.
On July 25, Iranian diplomats met with their German, British and French counterparts, which threatened to cause sanctions against Tehran if there is no diplomatic solution at the end of August. They accuse Iran of not having respected their commitments in the nuclear.
“Our contacts with Europeans continue,” Araghchi said Sunday, added that a date for the next discussions had not been established.
